A Golden Rod With a Golden Bush in a Golden Garden in Kent!

Since 1958, Medium Yellow has been known as Goldenrod or as Golden Rod, as printed on some of the labels of Crayola crayons. In the “Colors of Washington, DC” series it was known as Presidential Seal Gold and in the “State Crayon Collection” as Cornhusker Gold to represent Nebraska.

Goldenrods are seen in some countries as a sign of good luck or good fortune. Here in the US they are considered weeds, and have been eradicated to reduce allergies. When I was younger goldenrods grew everywhere and I remember seeing them especially in the fall when walking to school.

My Fuzzy Wuzzies

Fuzzy Wuzzy Brown was added to the Crayola line in 1998. My Fuzzy Wuzzies were bought in Germany and now reside in my childrens’ guest room.

In 1927 the Binney & Smith Company added the Snookum’s Crayola Color Set No. 25, based on the popular baby actor, Baby Snookums, played by Lawrence David Mckeen, Jr.  McKeen was featured in 39 “Newlyweds and Their Baby” short movies in the late 1920s, then went on to make a series of six sound short movies on his own. He died at the age of seven, from blood poisoning, ending his early childhood career.

Walking Through the Pines

Forest Green is the Crayola name given to Dark Green since 1958. In the “Mexico Collection” it is known as Grass Green. In the “Retro Colors” set it is known as Tambourine Green and in the “State Crayon Colors” it is known as the Greenback, as in the color of paper money.

These are the woods by my cottage!
