Shadow, is a greeny- brown-tan color that was introduced in the Crayola lineup in 1998. I think they just ran out of names for colors myself! So I picked a photo that had green, brown, and tan! My dog, an Akita named Isabella Boo, or sometimes called Bella Boo, or sometimes just Boo, journeys with me on our walks around the neighborhood. You could say I’m HER shadow!

Sepia is light brown, like the color of dirt. I like to get off the beaten track when I traveI. I’m not into the maddening crowds! Most of the time that is a polite way of saying I’m lost! But, I’ve had some of my best adventures that way! It only gets really scarey when it gets dark and you’re still lost!

Sepia was added into the Crayola Collection in 1935, but was only available in bulk until 1939.  From 1939 until 1944 it was included in the No. 52 box, but then was not produced again until 1958, when it was returned to the No. 64 box. It was also known as Oregon Trail, the color for Oregon in the “State Crayon Collection.”

IPhriday Photo Challenge: The Yellow Garden

My neighbors surely wonder what I am always up to, sleuthing in the neighborhood, in and out of the gardens, IPhone in hand, up close to my subject and far away, at dawn, at dusk, always sleuthing.

Color Your World: 120 Days of Crayola; Sea Green

Sea Green (Well Make that Porch Water Green)

Sea Green (Well Make that Porch Water Green)

These plants are called Corkscrews and I experimented with them, placing them in a container of water on my porch. They are meant to be in a pond or planted in very wet ground. I don’t have a pond and it gets so hot and humid here in the summer, all my plants probably need to be in a container of water! We have to have drip systems in our gardens (pop ups and underground) that water on a schedule or we would have nothing growing! Even grass!

I have a beautiful, large, contrary fountain in my Cottage Garden. So last year I got tired of babying it. I went to the garden center and bought more of the beautiful water plants. Then I turned off the bubbly section. Nothing could be simpler, just plop the water plants in the fountain water, container and all. Voila done! I had so many compliments on my new Water Garden, I will be doing the same this year!

Sea Green is the Crayola name that was given to the 1958 color, Light Green. In the “So Big” set it is known as Sea Serpent Green and it is Lady Liberty in the “State Color Collection” and represents New York.

Montisi, Italy Garden Center

Montisi, Italy Door

Montisi, Italy Door

Today for my first entry of Thursday Doors, I am presenting the doors of a garden center in Montisi, Italy! This was a long, narrow, building with several doors, where flowers and trees were lined up for viewing and sale, in this very small village in Italy! It just goes to show you doors and flowers go together, and women are women, they want a garden or patch of flowers! If you are looking for an authentic Italian, Tuscan, Hilltop Village you have come to the right place! Montisi, population 500, even offers a unique, guided map for a tour of their village! For a look at more of my favorite Italian Doors in Montisi, look Here! Enjoy!

I have over 37,000 photos in my Collections and I swear half of them are DOORS! So you will see me here a lot!

This is just one of many photos in the Thursday Door Collection featured by Norm2.0!   Won’t you join in or take a peak at all the doors?

Screamin' Green Hosta

Screamin’ Green Hosta

Screamin’ Green, now there’s a color name for you! I love my Screamin’ Green hosta in my garden! That’s not their official name of course, but maybe it should be! I have many varieties of hosta in my Woodland Garden, but the chartreuse ones really stand out and get huge! They really pack a punch in the garden, don’t you think?

Did you notice we have been doing the Crayola Colors in alphabetical order?

We’re getting nearer to the 120th Color and TODAY is National Crayon Day!

Screamin’ Green is a fluorescent color also known as Ultra Green and as Francis Scott Kiwi, the color for Maryland in the “State Crayon Collection.”

My Scarlet Shoes

It’s Spring and time to think about new shoes!

I think every woman should own at least one pair of Scarlet shoes, don’t you? Nothing perks you up and makes you feel sexy than Scarlet shoes! Scarlet shoes can make even the plainest/dullest outfits come alive! I love my Scarlet shoes! I love all these shoes, especially, because they are good for traveling!

They are stylish, lightweight, versatile, and support your foot with those elastic, stretchy bands. If they get dirty (no way), but if they do, you throw them in the washing machine! Voila good as new!  Who knew they could make such a practical and stylish shoe? As you see I have different styles and colors for every adventure. There are oodles to select from! I buy them at the Charleston Shoe Company, in Charleston, South Carolina. You can order them online too, take a peek!

PS I don’t have nail fungus! It looks like I do, if you look close up at my feet in these pictures! I painted my toes a funky green for Easter! SB told me to Never use that color again! OK, OK, an experiment that did not work!

Scarlet was the name given to Torch Red in the 1998 Crayola Collection. It is also known as Shag Carpet Orange in the “Retro Colors” set. It is Chili Pepper Red, and the color for New Mexico in the “State Crayon Collection.”

Morning Breaking Over the Cherry Blossom Tree

Spring is my favorite season! I never said that until I lived in the South! In Spring, it is always so green here, it reminds me of Ireland! And then everyday there are new blooms!  The Cherry Blossom Tree, one of the first to burst into Spring, is filled with clusters of a tinted, pinky, salmony colored flowers! Enjoy!

Salmon has been part of the Crayola Collection since 1949. It is known as Cherry Blossom, the color for Washington, DC, in the “State Color Collection”.

I wish this was my front door! Or even my garden/potting shed door, if I had one! It is just so charming, romantic, girlish, and whimsical! Notice no lock either! And a bee house at the very tippy top! I hope that is a note from Peter Rabbit on the door inviting me to tea!

Definitely had to paint them in the Brushstoke and Waterlogue Apps!

Robin’s Egg Blue is one of my favorite colors! It was also known as Moonbeam Blue in the Discovery Series” and Birthday Bash Blue in the special “Colors of Binney & Smith.”

Color Your World: 120 Days of Crayola; Red Violet

Le Lapin Sauté, Quebec City, Canada

Le Lapin Sauté, Quebec City, Canada

For Easter weekend I think we should concentrate on all things rabbit, don’t you? One of my favorite restaurants in Quebec City, is Le Lapin Sauté, The Jumping Rabbit in old French, or the Cooked Rabbit in English! Not only does this restaurant have very tasty soups, entrées, and desserts (not all rabbit dishes, ha ha), the french bistro ambiance is so romantic! We never pass up an opportunity to eat here when we are Quebec City. You can’t miss it, located in the Quartier Petit Champlain area, as it is one of the most stylishly decorated spots in any season! Just look at all those Red Violet, painted pots which make the beautiful display at the entrance to Le Lapin Sauté! You may sit outdoors or in! For a look at the decorations of the restaurant in other seasons, and the inside of the restaurant, just look Here! Enjoy!

Red Violet is another oldie in the Crayola Collection, added in 1930. It is known as Ultra Violet in the “Techno Brite” series and Rock ‘n Roll Raspberry, the color for Ohio, in the “State Crayon Collection.”
