Today is the 120th Day in the 120 Days of Crayola Challenge! Yeah! I did every color on every day! Yeah! I have had a wonderful time with the Challenge; looking up the colors, going through tons of photos and looking for the pictures that I thought would portray the color just right. The Challenge allowed me to be creative in the choice of photos and as always, I tried to make the posts entertaining and educational at the same time! It also reminded me of how much I like to travel and how I love gardens! This is also the first time I posted everyday for any length of time! I was on a roll!
My photos for today are pictures taken in Quebec, Canada and I thought they were a perfect set of pictures to end the Challenge, in a very creative way! Just look at all the Crayola Colors I found scattered all over Quebec City! Fabulous End to the Challenge I think! Thank you for looking in the past 120 days! I hope you enjoyed it! And thank you, Jennifer Nicole Wells, for hosting this Challenge!

Yellow-Orange has been in the Crayola assortment since 1930. It is also known as Pineapple Yellow in the series in Mexico, and Mellow Yellow in the “Retro Colors” set. It is the color for Wisconsin, called Moovalous Cheese, in the “State Crayon Collection” and Glowing Eyes Yellow in the “Halloween Crayons” Collection!

No 87! This is my favorite door photo along the Quartier Petit Champlain, one of the shopping and restaurant areas in Quebec City, Canada! There are lots of interesting highlights in the picture; the royal blue of the door, the different colors and textures of the plants, en masse! But, what I found most quirky about this photo was the stone head of a child, possibly that of a very young sailor, just outside the window on the top left. Also, there were the makings of candles hanging out to dry! And doesn’t that lamp light look like it’s in a fog? A beautiful and eerie door venue! It is set in Vieux Quebec, the oldest section of the city dating back to the 1600’s. The shops are narrow, attached to one another, and made of stone.

As you approach the end of the row of shops, there is #87. At one time it might have been a shop, but now it has decided to be a residence, tucked away behind all those luscious plants. It looks like the old stones were taken out of the structure and made into new steps to reach the door. Now part of the building is brick and the other side a stucco of sorts. I wonder if they will be doing artwork on that side? Many of the older buildings have been given a facelift and the artwork is the highlight of the building!

Here, in this photo if you look in the middle of the photo there is a stairway and a door painted on! The old, blending perfectly with the new!

Color Your World: 120 Days of Crayola; Red Violet
Le Lapin Sauté, Quebec City, Canada
For Easter weekend I think we should concentrate on all things rabbit, don’t you? One of my favorite restaurants in Quebec City, is Le Lapin Sauté, The Jumping Rabbit in old French, or the Cooked Rabbit in English! Not only does this restaurant have very tasty soups, entrées, and desserts (not all rabbit dishes, ha ha), the french bistro ambiance is so romantic! We never pass up an opportunity to eat here when we are Quebec City. You can’t miss it, located in the Quartier Petit Champlain area, as it is one of the most stylishly decorated spots in any season! Just look at all those Red Violet, painted pots which make the beautiful display at the entrance to Le Lapin Sauté! You may sit outdoors or in! For a look at the decorations of the restaurant in other seasons, and the inside of the restaurant, just look Here! Enjoy!
Red Violet is another oldie in the Crayola Collection, added in 1930. It is known as Ultra Violet in the “Techno Brite” series and Rock ‘n Roll Raspberry, the color for Ohio, in the “State Crayon Collection.”

They really know how to do big, bright, and Red Orange in Quebec City! I wonder how many plants it takes to fill this planter? If you like gardens, Quebec City is fabulously decked out all year long! Kudos to their gardeners! For more photos of Quebec City, just look HERE!
Red Orange, a Crayola color since 1930, is also known as Mandarine Orange in Mexico, Juicy Orange in the “So Big Set”, and Cajun Crawfish Orange in the color for Louisiana in the “State Crayon Collection.”

Quebec City, Quebec, Canada in the Fall
Orange is another color that has been in the Crayola collection since they were first produced in 1903. It is known as Jack O’Lantern Orange in the “So Big” set and Jack-o-Lantern Orange in the “Halloween Crayons” series. In the “Techno Brite” series it was called Cyber Orange and Jupiter Orange, Shrimp and Solar Flare in the “Discovery” series. In the “Colors of Baltimore” series it was called Go O’s and Orange You Glad You’re in America in the “State Crayon Collection” and finally it was called Freshly Squeezed in the 110th Anniversary set in 2013. I love all the names for Orange in the collections!

By 1969 Binney & Smith, owners of Crayola, opened an additional factory in Easton, Pennsylvania, where the crayons were produced. In 1972 they purchased the Cosmic Crayon Company in Bedford, UK and used its facilities for their European operations, calling it Binney & Smith (Europe) Ltd. That same year they also opened their Mexico operations calling it Binney & Smith Mexicol, S.A. Crayola was bursting at the seams!

The Trees in Canada go from Burnt Orange to Burnt Sienna! Crayola has featured Burnt Sienna in their line of crayons since 1903. Since Crayola has a color selected for every state in the US I think I will name Burnt Sienna the color for Quebec, Canada! Beautiful, beautiful shades of Orange!

Burnt Orange has been in the Crayola collection since 1958. The best place on the earth, in my opinion, to see orange, of any shade, is Quebec, Canada! Oh, it is so much fun to be in Quebec City in the autumn! Well, anytime really, but it is SOOOO colorful in the fall. The city goes above and beyond the norm to dress up the city for Fall. Here are just a few pictures to get you in the mood for Burnt Orange!
